An elevator device without a machine room, wherein a thin hoist (4) is positioned between a car (1) and a hoist way wall on a projected hoist way plane view at a height excluding an apex part (8a) and a pit part (8b) located inside a hoist way (8), and return wheels (5a, 5b) are disposed over the hoist (4) aslant relative to the hoist way wall on the projected hoist way plane view.
