Abstract:
An elevator car is vertically movably placed in a hoistway. The car is suspended
by a main rope body having a first main rope and a second main rope. The upper end
of each of the first and second main ropes is fixed to the upper part of the hoistway.
The car is provided with a pair of car suspension pulleys that individually guide
the first and second main ropes in the horizontal direction, a drive device that
has a drive sheave around which each of the first and second main ropes is wound,
and a pair of pulleys around which the first and second main ropes are wound and
that individually guide the main ropes from the drive sheave to below the car.
The drive sheave is rotated about a vertically placed rotating shaft.
