Abstract:
A counterbalance weight is provided with a displacement body that can be displaced
relative to the counterbalance weight. An elevator car and the counterbalance
weight are suspended by a main rope connected to the displacement body. A counterbalance
weight-side stationary pulley is provided at the counterbalance weight, and
a counterbalance weight-side movable pulley is provided at the displacement
body. The counterbalance weight-side movable pulley is displaced in the direction
to separate from the counterbalance weight-side stationary pulley when the
displacement body is displaced relative to the counterbalance weight by being
pulled by the main rope. A hoistway-side upper return pulley and a hoistway-side
lower return pulley are arranged at the upper part and lower part, respectively,
of a hoistway. A drive rope is continuously passed over the hoistway-side upper
return pulley, the counterbalance weight-side stationary pulley, the conunterbalance
weight-side movable pulley, and the hoistway-side lower return pulley, and
tesnsion is applied to the drive rope by displacement of the counterbalance weight-side
movable pulley in the direction where the counterbalance weight-side movable
pulley separates from the counterbalance weight-side stationary pulley. The
elevator car and the counterbalance weight are vertically moved in the hoistway
when the hoistway-side upper return pulley is rotated by a drive device.
