The purpose of the present invention is to provide an elevator device which is capable of safely stopping the movement of a car and ensuring a safe space for a maintenance worker who enters a lifting and lowering path at the time of maintenance. An elevator device according to the present invention is provided with a car (2), a car-side guide rail (6), an emergency stop device (17), a lever (11) for operating the emergency stop device (17), a speed controller (8) that detects abnormal speed of the car (2), and a speed controller rope (10) that is connected with the lever (11), a locking body (19) is provided to the speed controller rope (10), a stopper (12) that is stored in a position where the locking body (19) is not interfered under normal circumstances, and is set to such a position as to be capable of being locked with the locking body (19) at the time of maintenance, and when the stopper (12) is set to such a position as to be capable of being locked with the locking body (19), and the car (2) is to lower to a position lower than a predetermined height of the car (2), the locking body (19) is locked with the stopper (12), and the emergency stop device (17) is forced to operate, thereby stopping the car (2).
