Abstract:
Provided is a novel elevator car structure which reliably prevents a passenger from falling from the elevator car into the hoistway at the time of an accident and which provides increased safety for elevator users. A vertical shutter (14) is mounted to an elevator car (4) and is adapted to be automatically closed by a shutter opening/closing device (16) before the elevator car (4) moves. The configuration reliably prevents a passenger from falling into the hoistway (3) even if the doorway door (10) provided to the elevator car (4) opens at a position between floors, which is not an elevator stop floor. Also, the vertical shutter (14) is opened and closed in the vertical direction along guide rails (15) by the shutter opening/closing device (16). The shutter opening/closing device (16) is automatically locked during the travel of the elevator car (4) and when the elevator car stops at a position which is not the position of an elevator stop floor, and as a result, the accidental opening and closing of the doorway door (10) are prevented.
