Abstract:
An elevator device is configured so that a movable hand rail section (6) is vertically movable relative to a base handrail section (5) between a normal position at which the movable hand rail section (6) protrudes upward from the base handrail section and a lowered position which is the position to which the movable hand rail section (6) is lowered from the normal position. Handrail drive devices (11, 12, 31, 41, 51) are provided to the handrail device (4) and within a hoistway (2). The handrail drive devices (11, 12, 31, 41, 51) are configured so that the upward movement of an elevator car beyond an upper reference position in the upper part of the hoistway displaces the movable hand rail section from the normal position toward the lowered position, and when the elevator car is located below the reference position, the handrail drive devices (11, 12, 31, 41, 51) position the movable hand rail section at the normal position.
