Abstract:
An elevator device wherein a cage-top guardrail has fixed guardrail members that are fixed to a top surface of the cage in a state of protruding upwards from the top surface of the cage, and movable guardrail members that are provided to upper end sections of the fixed guardrail members and can be displaced between an upright position, in which the movable guardrail members are upright at the upper end sections of the fixed guardrail member, and a collapsed position, in which the movable guardrail members are collapsed relative to the upper end sections of the fixed guardrail members. A biasing body biases the movable guardrail members towards the upright position. A retaining piece works against the biasing force of the biasing body to retain the movable guardrail members in the collapsed position. A portion of the space above the cage, within a fixed range above the cage entrance, serves as a ceiling entryway. The movable guardrail members cut across at least part of the ceiling entryway when in the collapsed position.
