Abstract:

An emergency stop device for an elevator, moderating deceleration in braking operation without complex control and with a simple construction, thereby not causing discomfort to passengers and damage to an elevator body and a counterweight. The emergency stop device for an elevator has an elevator body traveling up and down along a guide rail and having an elevator car in which passengers are received and a frame body supporting the elevator car, a wedge piece moving upward, relative to the elevator body, along the guide rail in emergency, and a pressing body for pressing the wedge piece to the guide rail by using an elastic member. The emergency stop device also has a pressing force regulation means that reduces pressing force to the wedge piece when elevator body loaded mass, varied by the getting on and off of passengers, is greater, and increases the pressing force to the wedge piece when the elevator body loaded mass is less.
