Abstract:
An elevator comprising a cage (2) and a balance weight (3) suspended through a suspension rope (first rope) (6) wherein the rope is passed on a (first) direction inverting pulley (8) for the suspension rope and the cage (2) is driven to go up/down through a drive rope (second rope) (7) connected with the cage (2) or the balance weight (3). The drive rope (7) is driven through a drive traction sheave (10) provided on one side of an elevator shaft (1) and elevation/lowering of the cage (2) is regulated through a brake unit (17) provided in the direction inverting pulley (8).
