Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to obtain an embedded permanent magnet type rotary electric machine that is capable of achieving a high rotor core strength, a high torque, and a low torque ripple. This embedded permanent magnet type rotary electric machine has multiple permanent magnets that are embedded in a cylindrical rotor core on the outer periphery side thereof, are arranged at an equiangular pitch in the circumferential direction of the rotor core, and each of which constitutes one magnetic pole. Each permanent magnet constituting one magnetic pole comprises n permanent magnet pieces (wherein n is an integer equal to 3 or greater) that are arranged in a row into an arc-like form in the circumferential direction, and the n permanent magnet pieces are housed and retained one by one inside magnet retention holes that are created in the rotor core. The n permanent magnet pieces are configured such that the shapes and orientations of the magnet pieces are mirror-symmetric with respect to a plane that passes through the center of the magnetic pole and includes the axial center of the rotor core, and oriented such that the further the magnet pieces are positioned away from the center of the magnetic pole in the circumferential direction, the smaller the orientation angles thereof become. The permanent magnet pieces positioned away from the center of the magnetic pole in the circumferential direction are created to have a substantially fan-like cross-sectional shape that has a greater width in the radial direction than in the circumferential direction.
