Description

EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR ELEVATOR

Technical Field

[1] The invention relates to an emergency lighting system for elevator, and more particularly, to an emergency lighting system for elevator enable to supply an emergency power to the AV device such as LCD or PDP in case of elevator power off to illuminate the inner space of the elevator.

[2]

Background Art

[3] Generally, if the elevator is power off, the emergency power supply starts to supply the power to the emergency lamp to illuminate the inner space of the elevator. But the elevator emergency lighting system including the emergency power supply and the emergency lamp may not be well maintained because it is not frequently used. Therefore, in case of elevator power off, the elevator emergency lighting system may not operate properly and it could not illuminate the inner space of the elevator. If the emergency lamp is not lit, one may not find the emergency call button in the elevator, which will result in the undesirable safety accident. Meanwhile, generally the emergency lamps in the elevator do not have sufficient brightness.

[4]

Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem

[5] The invention is suggested to solve the above problems, and the object of the invention is to provide an emergency lighting system for elevator in which the elevator is equipped with an AV device such as LCD or PDP and the emergency power supply to the AV device in addition to the ordinary power supply, therefore in case of nonemergency the AC device could output multimedia data such as advertisement and life information, and in case of emergency such as elevator power off, the emergency power supply can supply electric power to the AC device which could function as the emergency lighting system.

[6]

Technical Solution

[7] According to an aspect of the invention, there is provided an emergency lighting system for elevator comprising a display device 10 provided in the inner space of the elevator cage 100 to display an AV signal, and an emergency power supply 20 connected to the display device 10 to supply the electric power instead of the ordinary power supply in case of elevator power off, the display device 10 having an AV output

11 to display the AV signal, and a controller 12 to control the power supply and the AV output, the controller 12 being capable of switching the ordinary power supply to the emergency power supply 20 in case of the elevator power off.

[8]

[9] According to another aspect of the invention, a calling unit 30 is provided in the inner space of the elevator cage 100, which is operated by the power from the emergency power supply 20.

[10]

[11] According to another aspect of the invention, the controller 12 has a memory 14 storing the AV data of the emergency guide message, and the controller 12 may output the AV data of the emergency message to the AV output 11 in case of elevator power off.

[12]

[13] According to another aspect of the invention, a sensor 40 disposed adjacent to the

AV output 11 and detecting the brightness of the light is connected to the controller 12, and the controller 12 may control the brightness of the AV output 11 according to the detected brightness by the sensor 40.

Advantageous Effects

[14] According to the invention as described above, during the ordinary situation, the AV output 11 may output the AV signal of advertisement and life information by the type of moving picture or still picture, while in case of emergency power off of the elevator, the AV output 11 may serve as the emergency lighting. Therefore, there is no need to keep and maintain a separate emergency lighting system, which will result in the reduced maintenance cost for the emergency lighting system. In addition, as the calling unit 30 is operated by the power from the emergency power supply 20 in case of elevator power off, one could effectively react to the emergency situation and avoid the safety accident.

[15] Moreover, as the controller 12 controls the AV output 11 to output the emergency guide message stored on the memory 14 to explain the situation and instruct the proper action steps, ones kept in the elevator cage 100 may be less terrified and stressed and can cope with the emergency situation easily. And as the controller 12 controls the brightness of the AV output 11 according to the detecting result of the sensor 40, the brightness of the inner space of the elevator cage 100 may be properly maintained in optimum condition while the life time of the emergency power supply could be sufficiently extended.

[16]

Brief Description of the Drawings

[17] The above and other objects or advantages of the present invention will become more apparent by describing the preferred embodiments thereof in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in which;

[18] FIG. 1 is a pictorial view of the overall system of the invention.

[19] FIG. 2 is a block diagram of the circuitry of the invention.

[20]

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

[21] A preferred embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Like reference numerals denote like elements through the following embodiments.

[22] FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 show the pictorial view of the overall system of the invention and the block diagram of the circuitry of the invention respectively. As shown, the invention includes a display device 10 provided in the inner space of the elevator cage 100 to display an AV signal, and an emergency power supply 20 connected to the display device 10 to supply the electric power instead of the ordinary power supply in case of elevator power off. Preferably, the emergency power supply 20 may comprises a rechargeable battery, a charging element such as a charging condenser. The ordinary power is supplied from the commercial power supply line and it may be transformed to DC through the rectifier 15.

[23] The display device 10 includes an AV output 11 outputting the AV signal, and a controller 12 controlling the power supply and the AV output 11. The controller 12 is connected to the set top box 50 and is received various AV signals of the contents such as advertisement or information from the set top box 50 and outputs the AV signal to the AV output 11. Preferably the AV output 11 may include LCD or PDP panel as a display panel, and a speaker.

[24] The controller 12 includes a power control unit 13, which may switch the ordinary power supply to the emergency power supply 20 in case of elevator power off. During the normal situation of no elevator power off, the controller 12 may charge the emergency power supply 20 by the ordinary commercial power supply. And in case of elevator power off, the emergency power supply 20 may supply the electric power to the elevator cage 100.

[25] A calling unit 30 is provided in the elevator cage 100, which is connected to the emergency power supply 20. Preferably, the calling unit 30 such as an interphone may also be connected to the controller 12, and in case of power off, the controller 12 may control the calling unit 30 to be automatically connected to the phone line of the outer personnel.

[26] In addition, the memory 14 of the controller 12 may store the emergency guide

message in the type of the multimedia data. Therefore, if the power is off in the elevator, the controller 12 may output the emergency guide message to the AV output 11 even in case that the AV signal may not be transmitted from the set top box 50 owing to the elevator power off. The emergency guide message may include AV data such a safety rules in emergency and action guide against the emergency situation. [27] A sensor 40 detecting the brightness of the light and connected to the controller 12 is provided adjacent the AV output 11. The controller 12 may automatically control the brightness of the AV output 11 according the detection of the sensor 40. The sensor 40 may be made of a photo diode, photo TR, photo cell or CdS. In this manner, the brightness of the AV output 11 may be maintained to an optimal level properly and the life time of the emergency power supply could be extended.
