Abstract:
Provided is an emergency stop device for an elevator, which is provided to the car or the counterweight of the elevator and which is configured so that, when the elevator reaches an overspeed condition, brake elements to which friction materials are mounted grip a guide rail for the car or the counterweight to stop the car or the counterweight. The emergency stop device is characterized in that the emergency stop device is provided with: insertion receiving sections which are provided to the brake elements and in which the friction materials are inserted and joined; and affixation sections which are respectively provided to the friction materials and the insertion receiving sections, and by which, when the friction materials are inserted into the insertion receiving sections, the friction materials and the insertion receiving sections can be fitted and held together. One of the affixation sections has formed thereon a protrusion which is tilted in a forward or opposite direction, and the other has formed thereon an engagement section capable of engaging with the protrusion.
