Disclosed is an emergency stop method for a mechanical bicycle parking facility which can stop operation of a transfer device immediately when the clothing or belongings of a user is caught by a bicycle during loading of the bicycle even if an emergency stop button or a temporary stop button cannot be pushed, and can emergency stop the pulling operation of the bicycle thus preventing accident of the user reliably. An emergency stop method at the time of loading and unloading a bicycle in a mechanical bicycle parking facility comprising loading and unloading ports for loading and unloading a bicycle, storage sections for storing bicycles, a carrying machine which carries a bicycle between the loading and unloading ports and the storage sections, and a transfer device which is provided in the carrying machine in order to pull in the bicycle from the loading and unloading port and the storage section and to push out the bicycle to the loading and unloading port and the storage section, wherein the load current value of the drive mechanism of the transfer device is monitored within a predetermined monitoring range, and the transfer device is temporarily stopped when the load current value exceeds a preset threshold.
