Abstract:
An encoder (21) is provided with: a rotatably supported magnet (1); a control board (8) provided with a magnetic field detecting section (2a) which detects a magnetic field generated by the magnet (1) and outputs a signal, and with a calculating section (2b) which detects the rotation of the magnet (1) on the basis of the output from the magnetic field detecting section (2a); a magnetic field shielding cover (4) comprising a soft magnetic body; an encoder bracket (5) to which the magnetic field shielding cover (4) is affixed; a protective cover (3) sandwiched and affixed between the magnetic field shielding cover (4) and the encoder bracket (5) and covering the magnet (1) and the control board (8) to prevent the entry of foreign matter; and a seal member (6) sandwiched between the protective cover (3) and the encoder bracket (5). The magnetic field shielding cover (4) covers the magnet (1), the control board (8), and the protective cover (3). The seal member (6) is compressed between the encoder bracket (5) and the protective cover (3).
