Abstract:
An objective of the present invention is to reduce the amount of data relating to a two-dimensional tactile sensation signal while ensuring tactile sensation reproducibility, thereby achieving greater efficiency in a system relating to tactile sensation reproduction. Encoding, which involves compression of information volume by performing orthogonal transformation for the two-dimensional tactile sensation signal based on a time signal, is performed. As a result of performing the orthogonal transformation for the two-dimensional tactile sensation signal based on the time signal, it is possible to achieve information volume compression through the removal of a frequency component that is hardly perceivable for humans, such as that performed for image signals, for example. Consequently, it is possible to reduce the amount of data relating to the two-dimensional tactile sensation signal while ensuring tactile sensation reproducibility, and greater efficiency in a system relating to tactile sensation reproduction can be achieved.
