Abstract:
In an encoding process: a pitch period corresponding to a time sequence signal included in a given time section is calculated; a code corresponding to the pitch period is output; and, on this occasion, precision degrees of expressing the pitch period and/or modes of encoding the pitch period are switched according to whether an index or indexes representing the degree of the periodicity of the time sequence signal and/or the degree of the stationarity of the time sequence signal satisfy a condition or conditions representing a high periodicity and/or a high stationarity or satisfy a condition or conditions representing a low periodicity and/or a low stationarity. In a corresponding decoding process: the code corresponding to the given time section is input; modes of decoding the code corresponding to the pitch period, which are included in the code, are switched according to whether or not the index or indexes representing the degree of the periodicity and/or the degree of the stationarity, which are included in or acquired from the code, satisfy a condition or conditions representing a high periodicity and/or a high stationarity; and the code corresponding to the pitch period is then decoded to acquire the pitch period corresponding to the given time section.
