Abstract:
Provided is an end mill having a rod-shaped end mill main body that has a rotating shaft and has a first end and second end, wherein the end mill main body is provided with: a first end cutting edge and second end cutting edge located on the first end side; a first outer peripheral cutting edge that extends from the first end cutting edge and is located on a side surface of the end mill main body; and a second outer peripheral cutting edge that extends from the second end cutting edge and is located on the side surface of the end mill main body. In a cross-section orthogonal to the rotating shaft: L2 is shorter than L1, where L1 is the distance of the first outer peripheral cutting edge from the rotating shaft and L2 is the distance of the second outer peripheral cutting edge from the rotating shaft; and α2 is greater than α1, where α1 is the rake angle of the first outer peripheral cutting edge and α2 is the rake angle of the second outer peripheral cutting edge.
