Abstract:
Provided are: an end splitting method in which, when horizontally splitting an end of a metal plate or metal rod having a rectangular, polygonal, or elliptical shape, the length of incision in the split portion can be freely adjusted and smooth split surfaces can be formed; a metal article produced by said method; and a method for bonding same. The present invention is characterized by the following: comprising a step for clamping at least two mutually facing locations on the periphery of a metal rod or on both surfaces of a metal plate with a presser die and splitting horizontally by cleaving or slitting by press-molding a cleaving punch or slitting punch in one end surface edge of the metal plate or metal rod, and a step for further advancing the splitting by repeating the same operation of press-molding by punches as before for the portion cleaved by the splitting; and in that in every instance of the operation of press-molding, the position of at least the presser die on one side is moved in advance in accordance with the distance from the distal end of a portion intended to be split from one end surface end of the metal plate or metal rod.
