Abstract:

In a ceramic end mill body, corner-rounded cutting faces are formed so as to comprise not a region A on the end cutting edge side but a point B and to comprise at least a region B. In other words, the first end of the cutting edge of the outer edge portion of the corner-rounded cutting face is formed at the outer edge of the region B of the corner-rounded edge, and the second end of the cutting edge extends at least to point B. As a result, there is the effect that the corner-rounded edge is not susceptible to damage during cutting work. That is to say, the corner-rounded cutting face is formed so as to have as the origin a first end that is distant from point A, which is the intersection point of the end cutting edge and the corner-rounded edge, and a second end that extends to point B. Therefore during cutting work, the origin of the corner-rounded cutting face is not susceptible to large cutting loads. Accordingly, the corner-rounded edge is not susceptible to damage.
