Abstract:
The present invention provides: an endoscope system that enables preventing a failure in detecting a detection object when automatic object detection function is in use; and a method for operating the endoscope system. A comparison processing unit (74) performs comparison processing on first diagnosis identification data acquired during a first diagnosis and second diagnosis identification data acquired during a second diagnosis which is different from the first diagnosis. A notification control unit (76) performs control so as to provide notification about a failure in detecting a detection object when it is determined, as a result of the comparison processing, that there is a discrepancy in the detection object between the first diagnosis and the second diagnosis.
