Abstract:
Provided are an endoscope system and a method for operating the same, with which it is possible to calculate a highly accurate oxygen saturation even if the range appearing in a region of interest includes a plurality of different tissues. A specific pigment concentration is calculated and stored, the specific pigment concentration being calculated, through a corrective value calculation operation, from respective image signals corresponding to a first wavelength band having sensitivity to blood hemoglobin, a second wavelength band in which sensitivity to a specific pigment is different from that in the first wavelength band and sensitivity to blood hemoglobin is different from that in the first wavelength band, a third wavelength band having sensitivity to blood concentration, and a fourth wavelength band having a wavelength longer than those of the first to third wavelength bands. A representative value is set from a plurality of specific pigment concentrations, an oxygen saturation corrected in relation to the specific pigment is calculated, and image display using the oxygen saturation is performed.
