Abstract:
The present invention enables the display of a highly reliable image where the degree of oxygen saturation of hemoglobin in blood is accurately imaged. An endoscope system, wherein a reflected image of a narrow band light, said narrow band light having a wavelength range showing a change in extinction coefficient with a change in the degree of oxygen saturation of hemoglobin in blood, is captured with a color image pick-up device (60) to give a blue signal (B1), a green signal (G1) and a red signal (R1). A reflected image of white light is captured with a color image pick-up device to give a blue signal (B2), a green signal (G2) and a red signal (R2). On the basis of the blue signal (B1), green signal (G2) and red signal (R2), the degree of oxygen saturation alone is determined from among multiple kinds of biofunctional information including blood amount and the degree of oxygen saturation. This degree of oxygen saturation is imaged to give an image of the degree of oxygen saturation.
