Abstract:
This endoscope system (1) is provided with: a lighting unit (4) for illuminating a subject (A) with illumination light (L) having an intensity distribution that is spatially non-uniform and includes a bright portion and a dark portion in a luminous flux cross-section perpendicular to the optical axis; an imaging unit (6) which acquires an illuminated image of the subject (A) illuminated with the illumination light (L); and a separation processing unit (7) which produces two separated images from the illuminated image. The separation processing unit (7) produces the two separated images on the basis of at least two intensity values among pixel intensity values in the illuminated image, wherein the pixel intensity values respectively correspond to a bright portion, a dark portion, and a portion having an intensity between those of the bright portion and the dark portion.
