Abstract:
An endoscope system of the present invention is provided with: an illumination unit for irradiating a subject with a plurality of illuminating lights having mutually different wavelength bands while successively switching the illuminating lights; an endoscope provided with an imaging unit that includes a plurality of pixels generating image signals by subjecting return light from the subject to photoelectric conversion, and that reads, in synchronization with the timing of irradiation by the illumination unit, the image signals generated by the pixels; an image processing unit which performs a synchronization process using a plurality of image signals generated on the basis of the return light of each illuminating light; an imaging condition switch unit which, on the basis of identification information of the endoscope, switches the mode of the imaging unit to a conventional mode or a high-speed mode having an imaging frame rate higher than that of the conventional mode; and a binning control unit which, when set in the high-speed mode, causes the imaging unit to perform a read process with the number of pixels as a unit of reading increased from that in the conventional mode.
