Abstract:
This endoscope (1) is provided with: an elongated endoscope body (2); an imaging element (3) provided to the tip of the endoscope body (2); an imaging optical system (4) provided to the tip of the imaging element (3); and two light guides (5). Two light guide lumens (21) are formed in the endoscope body (2). Each light guide (5) is inserted into a light guide lumen (21) movably in the axial direction. Also, two side holes (22) that open at the lateral surface of the endoscope body (2) and that interconnect with the tips of the two light guide lumens (5) are formed at the tip of the endoscope body (2). Each side hole (22) is formed on the base side with respect to the imaging element (3). As a result, by means of causing the light guides (5) to move in the axial direction, the endoscope (1) can assume a state wherein the tips of the light guides (5) are protruding from the side holes (22) and a state wherein the tips are housed within the endoscope body (2).
