The present invention provides an endoscope capable of obtaining good light distribution in both normal observation and close-up observation. Provided is an endoscope 100 having: an observation optical system 11 that has a magnified observation function capable of performing close-up observation by being brought close to an object; and at least three illumination optical systems, i.e., a first illumination optical system 12, a second illumination optical system 13, and a third illumination optical system 14. The endoscope 100 is characterized in that the amount of light from the first illumination optical system 12, of which the distance from the observation optical system 11 is the shortest among the at least three illumination optical systems, i.e., the first illumination optical system 12, the second illumination optical system 13, and the third illumination optical system 14, is 1/2 or less with respect to the amounts of light from the second illumination optical system 13 and the third illumination optical system 14, and the following conditional expressions (1) and (2) are satisfied: 0.4 < rd1/rd3 < 0.8 (1), 0.4 < rd1/rd2 < 0.8 (2).
