Abstract:
When microwave-assisted magnetic recording is applied to shingled-write recording for high-density recording, because the main pole track width is wider than the width of the RF-generating element, the high magnetic field gradient region of both offsets the magnetic head for the shingled write of an RF magnetic field generating unit (17) from the center line of a main pole (8), and the steep part of both magnetic field gradients (24, 25) overlap. In the aforementioned case, it is possible to make a magnetic field vector (11) from a main pole (8) perpendicularly enter the surface of the RF magnetic field generating unit and to stably oscillate, and also to realize high-density magnetic recording, by using such means as a highly magnetically permeable shield material placement method that adjusts and induces a main pole magnetic field, a hard bias layer placement method that adds a prescribed static magnetic field, and a method wherein the RF magnetic field generating unit itself is formed at an angle.
