Title:
ENERGY CONVERSION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/012299
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
An energy conversion device according to the invention is based on a thermodynamic circular process (2) that is coupled to a thermal engine (1). The energy conversion device comprises a first energy conversion component (11) for converting pressure energy into mechanical kinetic energy. The first energy conversion component (11) can in particular be a pressure cylinder (12) with a moveable working cylinder therein. The energy conversion device further comprises a second energy conversion component (3) for converting mechanical kinetic energy into electric energy. The second energy conversion component can in particular be a linear generator. The energy conversion device also comprises an inlet valve arrangement (5) and an outlet valve arrangement (6) that interact with the first energy conversion component (11) and an electronic control (23) for controlling the coupling of the thermal engine (1) to the thermodynamic circular process (2) and for controlling the valve arrangements (5, 6). Several, preferably all moving mechanical components of the thermal engine (1) are joined into an arrangement such that they are housed in a statically sealed chamber, preferably a closed housing (7).
