Abstract:
The present invention relates to an energy storage system that may comprise: a plurality of new and renewable energy power generation equipment for generating electricity by using new and renewable energy sources; a plurality of energy storage devices which are charged by an external power grid for suppling power to a power load or the new and renewable energy power generation equipment, and supply power to the power load during discharge; and energy storage equipment including a power conditioning system (PCS) for managing power of the energy storage devices, wherein the energy storage devices include a plurality of batteries having different charge/discharge cycles. The present invention can provide optimal performance required for the system by using, as an alternative to an expensive super capacitor, a combination of a plurality of batteries having different charge cycles and output characteristics. In addition, the present invention drives each battery such that each has the most effective output, so that the energy storage system is improved in efficiency and is suitable for an operation such as peak cut or peak shaving.
