Title:
ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/184630
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This energy storage system (401) is capable of charging a plurality of energy storage modules (BT1, BT2) from an external charger (10) of a power supply facility via a power supply cable (13) connected to a charging aperture (14) of a vehicle. A power converter (20) causes power to be transferred among the plurality of energy storage modules. Prior to switching of the plurality of energy storage modules to parallel connection, an onboard control unit (45) carries out a voltage balancing process which causes the power converter (20) to operate such that a voltage difference is less than or equal to a prescribed threshold. With an open/close state of a serial-parallel switch relay (RY1 - RY3) set to a prescribed diagnostic mode, the onboard control unit (45) diagnoses a malfunction of the serial-parallel switch relay (RY1 - RY3) on the basis of a detected voltage (Vx) of the charging aperture (14) acquired from a voltage detector (VS3).
