Abstract:
This energy storage device comprises: an energy storage body; a charging circuit configured to supply a charging current to the energy storage body; and a control unit connected to the energy storage body. This energy storage body has: a plurality of capacitor elements mutually connected in series, each having two ends; a plurality of resistors connected to the plurality of capacitor elements; and a plurality of switch elements connected to the plurality of capacitor elements and the plurality of resistors. One of the two ends of each capacitor element of the plurality of capacitor elements is connected to one end of one corresponding resistor of the plurality of resistors. The other of the two ends of each capacitor element is connected to one end of one corresponding switch element of the plurality of switch elements. The other end of the one corresponding resistor is connected to the other end of the one corresponding switch element. The one corresponding switch element is configured to be able to selectively switch between a connected state in which one end of the one corresponding switch element is connected to the other end, and a cutoff state in which the one end of one corresponding switch element is cut off from the other end. The control unit performs the following operation when the charging circuit is supplying the charging current to the energy storage body. The control unit sets the one corresponding switch element to the cutoff state when the difference between a reference voltage and the energy storage voltage of each capacitor element and is a prescribed first voltage difference value or less. The reference voltage rises as each capacitor element is charged. The control unit sets one corresponding switch element to the connected state when the difference between the reference voltage and the energy storage voltage of each capacitor element is greater than the prescribed first voltage difference value, and thereafter, switches the one corresponding switch element from the connected state to the cutoff state when the difference between the reference voltage and the energy storage voltage of each capacitor element is smaller than a prescribed second voltage difference value.
