Abstract:
Provided is an engine control device which is capable of controlling an engine which switches the combustion mode in accordance with the engine operation state, such that the occurrence of knocking noise caused by abnormal combustion is inhibited. This engine control device is provided with: a basic target torque determination unit (61) which determines a basic target torque on the basis of a vehicle operation state including operation of an accelerator pedal; a torque reduction amount determination unit (63) which determines a torque reduction amount on the basis of a vehicle operation state other than operation of the accelerator pedal; a final target torque determination unit (65) which determines a final target torque on the basis of the basic target torque and the torque reduction amount; and an engine control unit (69) which sets the combustion mode to premixed combustion or diffusion combustion in accordance with the engine operation state. The engine control unit maintains the combustion mode as diffusion combustion in cases when the engine operation state changes from a diffusion combustion region to a premixed combustion region as a result of a change in the final target torque which corresponds to a change in the torque reduction amount.
