The objective of the present invention is to provide an engine control device with which it is possible for a valve to be opened while avoiding the effects of negative pressure during an intake step, even when using a solenoid having a small physical size. An engine control device (300) of a saddle riding type vehicle is provided with an auxiliary intake passage (24) which is connected to an intake passage (22), bypassing a throttle valve (23) provided midway along the intake passage (22), an auxiliary air valve (25) interposed in the auxiliary intake passage (24) in such a way as to capable of switching between a fully-open state and a fully-closed state, an open/close control unit (30) which performs on/off control of the auxiliary air valve (25) between the fully-closed state and the fully-open state such that the auxiliary air valve (25) adopts the fully-open state when energized, and a crank position detecting unit (39, 31) which detects a crank position of an engine (E), wherein the open/close control unit (30) performs control to open the auxiliary air valve (25) during steps other than the intake step, on the basis of the position detected by the crank position detecting unit (39, 31).
