Abstract:
The present invention makes it possible to take countermeasures against writing on a non-volatile memory over the limited number of times without causing function degradation of engine control. A computer determines a use upper limit value indicating the upper limit number of times per use period of an engine control device from the maximum assured writing number of times assured by a non-volatile memory relative to an expected product life period of an engine control device. Further, the computer counts the actual number of writing times on the non-volatile memory, and creates an actual writing value indicating the actual number of times per use period of the engine control device. Then, when determining that the actual writing value exceeds the use upper limit value by a prescribed value or more, the computer performs writing limitation processing to reduce the number of writing times on the non-volatile memory. Thus, by detecting a prospective possibility of writing on the non-volatile memory over the limited number of times as early as possible and performing the writing limitation processing, the engine control device can avoid function degradation (stoppage of writing on the memory) during product life.
