Abstract:
An engine equipped with: a turbocharger (20) containing a turbine (22) and a compressor (23); an EGR passage (45) connecting an exhaust passage upstream from the turbine (22) and an air intake passage (10) downstream from the compressor (23); an EGR valve (47) provided in the EGR passage (45); a bypass passage (42) that bypasses the turbine (22); and a waste gate valve (43) provided in the bypass passage (42). In this engine, when the supercharging pressure rises to a limit pressure a first supercharging pressure control is executed, whereby the EGR valve (47) is opened and the waste gate valve (43) is closed. After this first supercharging pressure control has begun, when the rotational speed of the engine has risen to a prescribed value a second supercharging control is executed, whereby the waste gate valve (43) is opened in addition to the EGR valve (47).
