Abstract:
An engine exhaust device equipped with a first catalyst which is positioned along the engine exhaust channel, and purifies exhaust gas discharged from the engine, a second catalyst which is positioned on the downstream side of the first catalyst in the direction in which the exhaust gas flows, and purifies exhaust gas which has passed the first catalyst, and a tubular connection member which forms part of the exhaust channel and connects the first and second catalysts with one another, the engine exhaust device being characterized in that: the connection member is provided with a first opening on the upstream side in the direction in which the exhaust gas flows, a second opening on the downstream side in the direction in which the exhaust gas flows, and a curved section which connects the first and second openings; the downstream end surface side of the first catalyst is connected to the first opening, and the upstream end surface side of the second catalyst is connected to the second opening; the downstream end surface of the first catalyst and the upstream end surface of the second catalyst form a dihedral angle of 60-120 degrees, inclusive; one part of the upstream end surface of the second catalyst is near to and faces one part of the lateral surface of the first catalyst, thus forming an overlapping section; the curved section of the connection member is provided with a first wall part that faces the downstream end surface of the first catalyst, a second wall part that faces the upstream end surface of the second catalyst, and a connector part that connects the first and second wall parts and has a prescribed curvature radius; the first wall part is provided with a curved section formed so as to curve at a first wall part curvature radius, when viewing the second opening from the front; and the first wall part curvature radius is greater than the prescribed curvature radius.
