Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an engine operation method which promotes mixing of an ammonia gas and air in a cylinder. [Solution] In the present invention, hydrogen gas that has been simultaneously supplied into the cylinder along with a fuel gas ignites concurrently with the ignition of ammonia gas. The flame propagation speed (relative movement speed of flame front) of the hydrogen gas is extremely high compared to that of the ammonia gas. Therefore, the mixing of the ammonia gas and air in the cylinder is promoted by the movement of the flame front of the hydrogen gas, and thus complete combustion of the ammonia gas is facilitated.
