Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an engine wherein a cam chain is easy to attach. In the present invention, a crank case (84) contains the following: a support shaft (240) that pivotably supports a tension-applying member (158); and a temporary-support shaft (252) that supports the tension-applying member (158) and, viewed from the axial direction of a crankshaft (84), is located on the opposite side from a second sprocket (146) with respect to a straight line (L2) that connects the center of the support shaft (240) to the center of a first sprocket (108). A chain chamber (210) contains a temporary-support surface (213) that, with the tension-applying member (158) supported by the temporary-support shaft (252), contacts part of the tension-applying member (158) and slidably supports another part thereof. Viewed from the axial direction of the crankshaft (84), the temporary-support shaft (252) is located towards the temporary-support surface (213) with respect to the part of a chain (154) wrapped around the first sprocket (108).
