Abstract:
Provided is a low-friction, durable engine shaft that enables an integral-type roller bearing to be used, with the engine shaft as a ready-to-assemble type, and with no fear of misalignment of the inner ring and the outer ring, and characterized in that: the inner rings (4a, 8a), outer rings (4c, 8c), and rolling bodies (4b, 8b) of roller bearings (4, 8) arranged at the outer peripheral surface of the journal shaft (5) of the ready-to-assemble engine shaft are made of steel; the outer rings (4c, 8c) and the rolling bodies (4b, 8b) have a nitrogen-enriched layer, and a surface hardness of HRC58 (Hv653) or greater; and the inner rings (4a, 8a) have a nitrogen-enriched layer, with the grain size number of the residual austenitic crystal grains exceeding 11, the amount of residual austenite being 10-50% by volume, and the surface hardness being HRC58 (Hv653) or greater.
