Abstract:
A starter for an engine (21) of a portable machine, such as a moving machine, provided with a driving gear (75) rotated by a starting motor (71), and a driven gear (51) meshed with the driving gear (75) and operatively connected to a crankshaft (35) via a non-return clutch (53). The starter is engaged with the crankshaft (35) until the starting motor (71) has been driven to start the engine (21), and disengaged therefrom when the rotational speed of the crankshaft (35) exceeds that of the motor (71) after the engine (21) has been started.
