Abstract:
The present invention reverses the rotation of the crankshaft in a manner such that the crank angle exceeds the startup intake range and reaches the startup ignition range when starting up the engine. At least part of the startup intake range falls within the normal compression range, and the startup ignition range falls within the normal intake range. An air-fuel mixture is introduced into a combustion chamber when the crank angle is in the startup intake range, and the air-fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber is compressed when the crank angle is in the normal intake range. Thereafter, the air-fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber is ignited when the crank angle is in the startup ignition range, and the air-fuel mixture is combusted.
