Abstract:
The present invention provides an engine unit and the like that can have increased mountability to a vehicle. The engine unit is provided with: a four-stroke engine body having a high-load region and a low-load region; a three-phase brushless motor that starts the four-stroke engine body and performs electricity generation after the startup of the four-stroke engine body; an inverter provided with a plurality of switching units; and a control device. After the combustion operation of the four-stroke engine body halts, the control device controls the plurality of switching units while a crankshaft is performing positive rotation, and thereby the three-phase brushless motor imparts resistance to the positive rotation of the crankshaft, halting the crankshaft during the compression stroke of the four-stroke engine body, and in accordance with the input of a startup instruction when the crankshaft is halted, the crankshaft is started from the position at which the positive rotation was halted during the compression stroke by the three-phase brushless motor.
