Abstract:
Provided is an intake pipe fuel injection-type four-stroke engine unit that can improve the startability of an engine 10 with which there are high-load areas TH and low-load areas TL among four strokes. This engine unit comprises a four-stroke engine body 10 having high-load areas TH and low-load areas TL among four strokes, a permanent magnet-type starter motor 30 that has a permanent magnet and causes a crankshaft 46 to rotate, and an ECU 32 that controls the permanent magnet-type starter motor 30. During the low-load areas TL, and also from the time a fuel injection device 54 injects fuel into an intake passage 33a until an intake valve 50 closes, the rotational speed of the permanent magnet-type starter motor 30 is controlled so that the increase in the rotational speed of the crankshaft 46 is minimized on the basis of the temperature of the four-stroke engine body 10 measured by an engine temperature sensor 28.
