Abstract:
This engine (100) is provided with a modifier (36) that modifies a fuel into a modified gas. The engine (100) is provided with: an intake flow passage (22); a modified flow passage (31); a main indicator (24); a modifying throttle (32); a modifying injector (35); and a stop valve (38) that is provided to the modified flow passage (31) and adjusts the flow rate of the modified gas; a key switch (3) that outputs a start signal for starting the engine (100); and an ECU (10). The ECU (10) controls the modifying throttle (32) and the modifying injector (35) so as to assume a modifiable state when a start signal is input, and controls the stop valve (38) such that the opening degree thereof becomes smaller than a normal opening degree which is the opening degree of the stop valve (38) in a modified gas composition stabilized state, for a predetermined period including at least the time directly after the start of the engine (100).
