Abstract:
There has been such a problem that an engraving needle used in an image engraving device, which performs engraving by scanning on a paper or a thin plastic plate by relative motion of the engraving needle and an engraved plate, cannot cut off a surface with an accurate depth without breaking the engraving plate. In an engraving needle (10), the cutting edge at the tip of the engraving needle (10) has an obtuse open angle of 120 degrees or more, the rake angle (a) is an acute angle of 5 degrees or less, the clearance angle (ß) is in the range of 20-45 degrees, and a difference within 1 degree is imparted between the left and right open angles (dL, dR) of the cutting edge at the tip thus solving the matter.
