Abstract:

An enhanced multimedia broadcast and multicast service eMBMS system and management method therefor are disclosed for solving the problem in prior art that the functions of the control plane and the forwarding plane of the MBMS-GW are unable to evolve independently. The eMBMS system includes a GW-C device connected with the mobility management entity and the broadcast and multicast service center, and a GW-U device connected with the base station and the broadcast and multicast service center; the GW-C device is used to perform an interaction of the core network signaling with the broadcast and multicast service center and the mobility management entity, and to transmit a forwarding instruction message to the GW-U device; the GW-U device is used to receive the signaling transmitted by the base station, and to transmit the signaling to the GW-C device according to the forwarding instruction message; the GW-C device is also used to receive and process the signaling transmitted by the GW-C device, and the GW-U device is also used to transmit the received broadcast and multicast service data packet to the base station according to the forwarding instruction message.
