Abstract:
Provided are an environment measuring system and an environment measuring method, which do not require a heating body in order to measure the temperature and wind speed in a large number of locations at a relatively low cost. An optical fiber (10) is provided with a first measuring part with a thin coating layer and a second measuring part with a thick coating layer. The first measuring part and the second measuring part are provided in the same measuring location and a laser is shone from a temperature measuring device (20) into the optical fiber (10). Subsequently, the temperature measuring device (20) receives backscattered light (Raman scattered light) generated within the optical fiber (10) and obtains the temperature distribution of the optical fiber (10) along the lengthwise direction. The temperature distribution data is inputted from the temperature measuring device (20) to an analyzer (25), and the analyzer calculates the average temperature variation within the first measuring part and determines said average value to be the temperature of the area being measured. Additionally, the analyzer calculates the ratio between the temperature variation range within the first measuring part and the temperature variation range within the second measuring part, and calculates the wind speed on the basis of the ratio.
