Abstract:

A novel therapeutic agent for hyperlipemia which is an ester compound represented by the general formula (1'): (1') [wherein R¹ and R² each is hydrogen, optionally substituted aryl, etc.; X is -COO- or -CON(R¹⁰)-; R³ and R⁴ each is hydrogen, C_1-6 alkyl, C_1-6 alkoxy, etc.; R⁵, R⁶, and R⁷ each is hydrogen, C_1-6 alkyl, C_1-6 alkoxy, etc.; R⁸ and R⁹ are the same or different and each is hydrogen, C_1-6 alkyl, -CON(R¹⁸)(R¹⁹), -COO(R²⁰), etc.; rings A, B, and C are the same or different and each is aryl, a heterocycle residue, etc.; Alk¹ and Alk² are the same or different and each is alkanediyl, etc.; and l and m each is an integer of 0 to 3], a prodrug of the ester compound, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of either. The therapeutic agent selectively inhibits MTP in the small intestine and hence causes no side effects such as a fatty liver.
