Abstract:
During an evading maneuver in congested waters, while continuing to travel on a current destination course 502 of an own ship 501 and maintaining forward rotation of one propulsion propeller 101 disposed at the stern, a rudder angle is given to a pair of left and right high lift rudders 102, 103 disposed behind the propulsion propeller 101 to produce a reverse thrust out of the thrust of a propeller slipstream, and a deceleration maneuver is performed with the reverse thrust. In the deceleration maneuver, the rudder angle given to both the high lift rudders 102, 103 is controlled in a range from a rudder angle that causes the propeller slipstream to provide a maximum reverse thrust, to a rudder angle that eliminates a forward thrust of the propeller slipstream, and deceleration of the ship speed is controlled by increasing and decreasing the reverse thrust according to the rudder angle.
