Abstract:
In order to provide a method and device capable of measuring the protrusion amount of excess pieces on both sides of a sheet after cutting even when the position of a code embedded in the sheet changes, this excess piece protrusion amount measurement device is provided with an imaging means which images the cross-sectional profile shape in the width direction of the sheet that includes excess pieces. The device generates wave shape data in which the cross-sectional profile shape is imaged, detects the maximum height positions of crests and the minimum height positions of the troughs in the wave shape data, sets, on the basis of the wave shape data, as the maximum position of the terminal crest, the maximum position of the crest positioned furthest towards the end of the sheet in the width direction, sets, as the minimum position of the terminal trough, a position further toward the end in the width direction than the maximum position of the terminal crest and corresponding to the end of the excess pieces of the sheet, detects the distance in the sheet width direction between the terminal crest maximum position and the terminal trough minimum position, and measures the protrusion amount of the excess pieces on the basis of said distance.
